Ex-Merrill Villalba loses sex discrimination case

Stephanie Villalba, a former banker who was suing Merrill Lynch for a record £7.5m (€11m) has lost her case in a UK tribunal claiming sexual discrimination and unequal pay. She won a claim of unfair dismissal.

Villalba sued the bank after losing her job as head of the bank's private client business in Europe last year. If she had won her case the damages could have been the largest awarded by a UK employment tribunal.
