Federal prosecutors in Manhattan had alleged that Igor Poteroba provided tips to his friend

A former UBS investment banker was sentenced to nearly two years in prison after admitting last year to tipping a friend about proposed health-care mergers.

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan had alleged that Igor Poteroba, 37 years old, provided tips to his friend Alexei Koval, 37, about proposed mergers in which UBS was acting as an adviser. The conspiracy allegedly occurred between 2005 and March 2010.
