The banks research team at Exane BNP Paribas, the bulk of which joined in 2011 from Credit Suisse, has taken the top spot in the pan-European Thomson Reuters Extel rankings for the sector, reclaiming a position the team last held at their previous employer.

The Exane team was placed ahead of rivals at Morgan Stanley and Citigroup. Guillaume Tiberghien, who led the defection to Exane, ranked second in the individual analyst rankings for the banks sector.
