Hiring spree dents profits at Exane's UK office

An increase in staff – which led to success in last week's Extel broker rankings – has weighed on profits at the London office of Exane BNP Paribas

An increase in staff costs at Exane Limited, the UK subsidiary of the French broker jointly run with BNP Paribas, caused pre-tax profits to fall by half last year.

Accounts filed with Companies House earlier this month show a 51% fall in pre-tax profit at Exane Limited to €8.8m for the year ended December 31, 2012.
