Exchanges set their sights on central and eastern Europe

NYSE Euronext’s Polish alliance could bring fresh consolidation in the region

The link-up last week between NYSE Euronext and the Warsaw Stock Exchange has raised the possibility that eastern Europe may become the next battleground for exchange consolidation in the continent.

NYSE Euronext has downplayed its "multi-year" alliance with the Polish bourse, saying it was just a technology deal, under which the Warsaw exchange will migrate its cash and derivatives markets on to NYSE Euronext's Universal Trading Platform technology.
