F&C Asset Management has hired a head of structured credit from an investment bank to develop its collateralised debt obligation business, marking another step in its plan to improve its profitability by 2009.

Teimuraz Barbakadze, who was head of cash CDOs in Europe at Société Générale, will join F&C in the summer. He will report to Jacob De Wit, head of fixed income.
