Financial Conduct Authority chair Ashley Alder said he was surprised at the criticism the watchdog has received following plans to ‘name and shame’ firms it had placed under investigation.

The City has been up in arms since a February consultation published by the FCA revealed it planned to disclose more information about the subjects of its probes in a bid to warn consumers off potential scams, get more people to come forward and stop unhelpful speculation spreading.
