FCA chief rules out action on exchange traded funds

The chief executive of the UK financial regulator is keeping a “very close watch” on the booming exchange traded fund market but has ruled out the need to launch an investigation into the products – bucking a trend among other regulators.

“Very few ETFs originate in this country but they are sold in this country,” Andrew Bailey, chief executive of the Financial Conduct Authority, said during a press conference in London yesterday.
