FCA chief seeks ‘visibility’ on hedge fund gilts trading

The chief executive of the Financial Conduct Authority called for more data on hedge funds’ activity in UK government debt, amid concerns over potential market instability.

Nikhil Rathi said he wanted “visibility” on hedge funds’ presence in the gilts market, despite the City regulator pushing to reduce data collection in other parts of the financial sector in recent months.
