The Financial Conduct Authority has confirmed David Geale will stay on as its payments head, as the government prepares to regulate cryptoassets and abolish the City watchdog’s payments subsidiary.

Geale will become the FCA’s permanent executive director for payments and digital finance, according to an 8 May statement.
