The Financial Conduct Authority has targeted hundreds of firms as it looks to crack down on licences for potentially risky business lines.

The regulator has been marching ahead with a "use it or lose it" permissions regime amid concerns that firms are maintaining FCA authorisation in certain areas “purely to add credibility to their unregulated activities”.
