Britain’s financial watchdog has come under fire for its handling of Wirecard’s collapse in the UK - after millions of customers of the payment firm’s British arm were temporarily frozen out of their accounts last month with little notice.

Politicians called for a parliamentary inquiry into the Financial Conduct Authority’s intervention, while others asked for an in-depth review into the UK’s payments systems to prevent a Wirecard-like downfall again.
