Fears over Amvescap as Janus settles at $225m

Janus Capital, has agreed to pay $225m (€189m) to settle with US regulators as fears grew that Amvescap has set aside $300m to pay fines and other penalties relating to the US mutual fund scandal.

Janus, which saw $6bn pulled from its funds this year, will pay $50m in restitution to investors, $50m in civil penalties, and a reduction in the firm's mutual fund fees amounting to $125m.
