A federal judge in Texas has permanently blocked a ban on worker non-compete agreements, saying the Federal Trade Commission didn’t have the authority to institute the rule.

US district judge Ada Brown in Dallas said the FTC’s rule was “unreasonably overbroad”. The judge had previously delayed the implementation of the ban, which was to have started on 4 September.
