Ferber cautious on EU dark pool accord

Germany's leading MEP on Mifid II has 'a lot of concerns' on new rules for dark pools, despite agreement among European policymakers

A leading MEP has "a lot of concerns" on controversial rules aimed at curtailing trading in anonymous markets known as dark pools, despite striking a deal with European co-legislators on Thursday.

The European Parliament and Council of the European Union yesterday agreed to impose two separate limits to the proportion of trading that can be conducted on dark pools - venues that allow orders to be placed without pre-trade price information, enabling investors to limit market impact.
