An estimated one in 30 people had Covid-19 in London between December 23 and January 2, the Office for National Statistics found.

According to modelled data released by the ONS on 5 January, the ratio translates to around 290,300 positive cases in the capital on 2 January, soaring from 61,100 on 22 November, or 1 in 145 people.
