Fidelity fired from state pension fund

The $40bn (€33.4bn) Massachusetts state pension fund has fired Fidelity Investments, the Boston-based fund management firm, from running a $350m US equities mandate.

The move comes after Fidelity failed to offer a suitable replacement for Steve Kaye, fund manager of the Fidelity growth and income fund and various other funds run by the firm, when he went on sabbatical in December.
