Fidelity Investments has had more than $2bn wiped from its funds following the sharp drop in the price of Facebook, the social media giant.

The US asset manager is the second-largest investor in Facebook and the largest active shareholder in the social media company, which faces a regulatory probe into the collection and mining of the data of its users.
