Fidelity Investment Services has strengthened its position as the leading fund management group in Europe, ahead of closest rival Capital Group, according to the annual Thomson Extel survey 2001.

The ranking for Fidelity, which was second last year behind Capital, reflects the results of Thomson Extel's rival survey by Reuters covering European larger companies. Fidelity has held on to top position for the past five years in the Reuters poll.
