Fimat Group, the New York-based brokerage, clearing and execution firm owned by Société Générale, has formed the financial services group (FSG) to increase its presence in the alternative investment management community.

Stephen Solomon and Marc Cohen have joined Fimat from Prudential Securities to head the new group. Both managing directors have considerable experience in the hedge fund arena and Solomon is regarded as a pioneer in capital introductions.
