Financial advisers left behind on GKN deal

After two years of negotiations, GKN and Finmeccanica have finalised an agreement to merge their helicopter operations, without the help of financial advisers.

When the talks began in April 1998 to merge GKN Westland and Agusta, UK-based GKN hired Wasserstein Perella to give financial advice, while Merrill Lynch acted on behalf of Italy's Finmeccanica.
