The decision by Citigroup to kill off the Salomon and Schroder names may mark the passing of an era in investment banking. But at least it solves a small problem with websites.

Clients might reasonably expect the website for the ungainly Schroder Salomon Smith Barney to be www.sssb.com. That URL, however, doesn't find Schroder Salomon's thrusting high-rollers, but instead the distinctly low-key South Shore Savings Bank.
