Fundraising by first-time private equity vehicles has hit a seven-year high, with alternative fund structures growing as a proportion of the total.

The total capital raised by firms operating their first funds stood at $22.4 billion globally in the first five months of the year, up from $16.7 billion in the same period last year, according to Palico, an online private equity marketplace.
