EU bank reform plans: what you need to know

Proposals presented by the European Commission will restrict banks' prop trading activity

The European Commission has kick-started plans to rein in some forms of investment banking activity as part of major reforms to the EU banking sector.

Michel Barnier, the European Commissioner for internal market and services said today's proposals were the "final cogs in the wheel" needed to complete an overhaul of the EU baking system.
