Political criticism and legal uncertainty are shaking up fund administration

From Lord of the Rings country in New Zealand to the tropical beaches of Mauritius, local regulators are pushing for a slice of the lucrative fund administration business.

That comes as traditional offshore financial centres, such as the Cayman Islands and other jurisdictions in the Caribbean, have come under criticism from the US and European governments for what they describe as unnecessary opacity.
