Fleet Street primed for revamp as Goldman departs

As firms including Deloitte and Freshfields leave their premises in the area, agencies say developers could regenerate a neglected location

Three decades after the newspaper industry left London’s Fleet Street, another string of office moves offers a chance to revamp what some property experts see as a neglected part of the capital — and the City of London Corporation plans to work with other businesses to seize the moment.

Fleet Street’s name remains synonymous with the newspaper industry, much of which was centred there until the 1980s. Since then, banks and professional services firms have based themselves in the area. But now several big names are on the move again, some to new offices nearby and others further afield.
