One thing you would not expect of someone who specialises in risk management would be to take too many risks. But that’s exactly what Christian Diller did when, at just 35 years old, he struck out from his job at fund of funds Capital Dynamics to found his own secondaries fund, Montana Capital Partners.

Since co-founding the business in Switzerland in 2011, he has managed to successfully raise a debut fund above its targets. His personal connections have meant he has been able to build relationships with some of Europe's richest family offices, from the Swarovski family to German billionaire Otto Beisheim's private office.
