Roy C Smith, the former Goldman Sachs partner who went on to become a leading commentator on the global banking industry, died late last week at the age of 81.

Smith, an emeritus professor at the New York University Stern School of Business, passed away after a battle with brain cancer, according to an obituary in the New York Times.
