Former LSE boss Xavier Rolet calls for global digital currency

The market remains unregulated — exchanges including Coinbase, Kraken and Binance have tussled with regulators in recent months

Global exchanges should be working to provide a safe and regulated alternative to private cryptocurrencies, the former boss of the London Stock Exchange said, as demand for bitcoin and other digital assets continues to grow.

Xavier Rolet told Financial News that there is an “urgent need for a well-regulated global digital currency, backed by serious and legally safe financial infrastructure”.
