Former MF Global trader sentenced to five years for rogue wheat trades

Trading violations contributed to the collapse of the futures broker

A Chicago court on Tuesday sentenced a former commodities trader for MF Global Holdings to five years in federal prison for placing rogue trades that badly damaged the brokerage five years ago.

Evan Brent Dooley, who worked as an "associated person" in MF Global's Memphis, Tennessee office, also was ordered to pay $141m in restitution, matching the size of the loss taken by MF Global due to his unauthorised trading in wheat futures.
