Bill McNabb, the former chief executive of US fund management giant Vanguard, has joined the board of UK wealth management business Tilney Smith & Williamson as a non-executive director.

McNabb was CEO of the low-cost asset manager between 2008 and 2017. He was hired by Jack Bogle, Vanguard’s founder, who interviewed and offered McNabb his first job at the company in 1986.
