Fortis abandons plans for funds group tie-up

Fortis, the Belgian-Dutch bank, has abandoned talks to find a joint venture partner for its €112bn ($142bn) fund management group, Fortis Investments.

The bank held talks over the past two years with potential partners, believed to include State Street and Mellon Financial in the US, BNP Paribas in France, and Scottish Widows Investment Partnership and Schroders in the UK.
