The French private equity market, as elsewhere in Europe, has suffered from the technology slump and economic uncertainty, with reduced levels of investment across the board. Nonetheless, some players are beefing up their French presence.

Last month Candover, the European buy-out house, opened its French office and mid-market specialist Electra Partners Europe expanded its French team by 50%.
