France Telecom pays £26.9bn for Orange

France Telecom has agreed to buy Orange from Vodafone AirTouch for £25.1bn (€40.3bn), creating Europe's second largest mobile phone operator.

In addition, France Telecom will assume £1.8bn (€2.9bn) of Orange debt bringing the total value of the acquisition to £26.9bn (€43.2bn).
