Christine Lagarde, the French minister for the Economy, Industry and Employment, is to push for registration of rating agencies in Europe as a priority when France takes over the European Union Presidency on July 1.

Lagarde, speaking at the 33rd International Organisation of Securities Commissions annual conference in Paris today, said she will make a proposal on the treatment of rating agencies at the Ecofin, Economic and Financial Affairs Council, meeting in July.
