Freddie Mac is going it alone on euro bonds

Fannie Mae says it is satisfied with its dollar debt.

Fannie Mae has no plans to follow rival Freddie Mac in setting up a programme to sell benchmark bonds denominated in euros, according to a spokesman for the US mortgage lender. The two agencies' funding programmes have hitherto moved in lock step.

'We're very satisfied with the international distribution we've achieved for our dollar debt,' says the spokesman. 'We'll continue to do deals periodically, when market conditions are right.'
