BNP Paribas and its Italian partner, Finanziara Internazionale, have benefited most from the introduction of a new Italian securitisation law which is largely responsible for the boom in asset-backed securities (ABS) in the country.
A report on the market between 1999, when the law was passed, and 2001, by the specialist website, securitisation.it, puts Finanziaria Internazionale top of the rankings with 20 mandates and BNP Paribas second with 16.
