Friends Provident, the UK life assurer, has priced at the low end of its bookbuilding range adding to the depression in the new issue market after Euronext and Davide Campari-Milano both fell on their trading debuts.

Merrill Lynch is sponsor, global co-ordinator and bookrunner of the initial public offering.
