Front Capital Systems, the trading technology subsidiary of SunGard, the global financial services IT supplier, has boosted its African and Middle East operations with two appointments.

Cliff van Tonder has been appointed regional manager for Africa and the Middle East. Van Tonder set up Brokat Technologies, the local subsidiary of the German secure internet banking software supplier, which failed last year. Van Tonder is a specialist in setting up businesses in the region, having also established the African operations of Lawson Software, the services industry enterprise software supplier. At Front, he will focus on building the company's business in South Africa.
