FSA finalises rules for alternative trading systems

The UK's Financial Services Authority (FSA) has issued its final rules for alternative trading systems (ATSs) which will come into force in April 2004.

The rules will increase the level of transparency available to market participants and improve market monitoring of trading platforms. There are around 20 ATSs operating from the UK and currently they follow the same rules as ordinary securities firms.
