FSA loses first criminal prosecution case

Former finance director and two other men acquitted of insider dealing, highlighting the risk of pursuing criminal prosecutions

The Financial Services Authority, which today awarded its largest ever fine against a US bank, has lost a criminal case for insider dealing for the first time, after three men were acquitted of insider dealing.

The FSA said that Andrew King, a finance director, and Michael McFall, a lawyer, had been acquitted of eight counts of insider dealing in a case heard at the Southwark Crown Court.
