FSA proposes splintering regulatory publishing monopoly

The Financial Services Authority (FSA), the UK regulator, has proposed opening up the channels through which UK listed companies publish regulatory information.

This would, in effect, break the monopoly held by the Regulatory News Service (RNS), run by the London Stock Exchange. Under the FSA proposals, the Regulatory News Service would have to compete against other primary information providers, similar to the US and Canadian models.
