FTSE 100 edges up but faces quarterly loss

UK stocks held onto thin gains Thursday, facing losses for the month and the quarter, as investors get ready to wrap up for the Easter holiday break, MarketWatch reports.

How markets are moving
The FTSE 100 index edged up 0.1% to 7,051.57, led by the basic materials sector. The healthcare and utility groups were losing the most. On Wednesday, the index finished up by 0.6%.
