Fund managers have legal responsibility to clients, warns Unilever

The lawyer representing Unilever in its court case against Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM) has warned that if the case fails it will show that fund managers are not legally responsible to their pension fund clients.

The warning by Jonathan Sumption QC, who is representing Unilever Superannuation Fund, came as he concluded his opening remarks on the third day of the court case.
