Fundraising figures highlight tough 2011

Global private equity fundraising activity slowed to a five-year low in the second half of 2011, according to researcher Preqin

The second half of 2011 marked the slowest period for global private equity fundraising in over five years as US and European debt concerns took their toll on activity levels within the asset class, figures from data provider Preqin reveal.

The figures, dated 30 December, also show the third quarter was the worst three month period for global private equity fundraising in the last five years.
