Fundraising slowdown hits private equity firms

Industri Kapital and Botts are casualties as industry chases €48bn

Dozens of European private equity firms are facing a crisis and some could face closure, as they fail to attract investors to their funds.

The gloomy outlook is a result of 160 funds across Europe trying to raise a total of €48bn ($55bn) from investors at the same time, according to Alt Assets, a private equity research firm, and market sources.
