Leading Vodafone AirTouch shareholders are set to abstain on a resolution to hand out bumper pay packages being put to its next annual meeting on July 27.

'Vodafone has set precedents which we do not want followed anywhere else,' said one fund manager. 'I believe it is important to abstain, to make a point. I know that others are thinking the same way.'
