The G20 made a brief statement on tax havens, saying the era of banking secrecy is over, but otherwise avoided detailed proposals, preferring to leave the matter to the Paris-based Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development.

In reference to tax havens, the G20 communiqué said: "We stand ready to deploy sanctions to protect our public finances and financial systems. The era of banking secrecy is over."
