Ari Gabinet, district administrator of the Securities and Exchange Commission's Philadelphia office, has resigned. He will leave at the end of October to head the securities regulation group at Vanguard, the mutual fund firm.

Gabinet was appointed to his position at the SEC in 2003, and was responsible for the regulator's examination and enforcement programmes in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
