GAM, the active asset manager owned by UBS, has appointed Sean Taylor, former head of global equity at SG Asset Management, as investment director, with responsibility for managing traditional and hedge fund investments.

During his time at SG, Taylor was a member of the asset allocation committee and head of the emerging market desk. Before joining SGAM in 1997 he worked as a fund manager at Capel-Cure Myers and HSBC James Capel Investment Management.
